Dapsco is a 35 year old company that presently specializes in the design, sales and installation of Access Floors and related services.
The basic idea with access, or raised, floors is to elevate the floor, providing a plenum for electrical wires, communications cables and air distribution. The floor can be as low as 2 1/2" and as high as 96".
The Access Floor is constructed of modular 2' x 2' Access Floor panels supported by pedestal and/or bolted stringer understructure. A few low-profile Access Flooring Systems are made from molded plastic or aluminum. Access Floor finishes can be virtually any floor finished product: carpet or carpet tile, specialiized rubber, vinyl composition tile, high pressure laminate, wood composites, decorative finished concrete, finished metal, or a natural material such as linoleum or cork.
Access floor air distribution systems can save 30% to 50% in energy use.
With access flooring, the construction schedule for electrical rough-ins can often be more flexible, because the wires are readily accessible. Also, because floor modules with outlets and cable jacks can be located anywhere in the floor, standard furniture can be used without giving up the ability to wire equipment. Modifications to the wiring and cabling can be made very easily because access flooring makes the outlets very accessible.
